Minimal Responsive Business Template

Simple Professional Joomla Theme
Please share:

I saw you like a lot simple templates that can be easily modified and customized, so I decide to create a new minimal template. I think this is one of my best templates, I fixed few issues that users submitted (thank you all for your feedback!), and also adapted the fixes to most of my other templates.

As my other templates, SmartOne has lots of in-built features that may very useful for most of you.

Main Features of Smart One Minimal Template

  • Easy to setup in-built jQuery slideshow
  • Responsive web design (works well with iPhone and iPad)
  • Different module styles and lots of module positions
  • Social icons included (can be replaced easily if needed)
  • Easy to setup, just follow the documentation
  • Upload your logo image easily or use text logo instead
  • Use it for free on your personal website or for your client’s site

Module Positions:

    I love this template. I would like to use it for my site but I want to see if I can make some changes for to match my color scheme.

  2. kymcoparts on Nov.05.2013

    I get this errors that is filling eror_log file.:

    PHP Notice: Use of undefined constant REQUEST_URI – assumed ‘REQUEST_URI’
    PHP Notice: Undefined index: grid in public_html/templates/smartone/html/modules.php on line 36

    Can you tell me what to do?

    1. JT Admin on Nov.05.2013

      That is a php notice only, it is not an error.
      In the admin panel go to Global Configuration->Server->Error Reporting and set it to None.

    thx for your perfect work. Are we allowed by you/your licence to modify your template (for a non-commercial website)?

    Thanks again and all the best from Austria

    1. JT Admin on Nov.07.2013

      Hi! You can modify the template for your design requirement: change colors, layout, size, etc…
      If need any help, just check the documentation page or write a message here. :) Have fun!

    Hello Admin,

    Thank you for great work. I need to change my slide height to 300px as I am okay with the wight.

    Thank you!

    1. JT Admin on Nov.07.2013

      Sorry but don’t get it… Just add an image with 300px height and the slideshow will have the same height.

  5. villy on Nov.27.2013

    Thanks for that great template. I would appreciate if you can help me with this :
    I have set in body a background image that is quite dark, set background color and opacity for the articles and as expected it affects the text as well. I imagine that I must insert a div somewhere at the index.php file, but I can`t make it work as I am not familiar with php.
    Can you help ?

    1. JT Admin on Nov.27.2013

      Hello Villy, I’m not quite sure what you want to change. Could you give me a demo to your project? Or describe what exactly you want to change? Don’t think you have to edit anything in the php file, just in the css file.

  6. akinolakay on Dec.01.2013

    Hello Admin,

    After the modification of the social icon url at the back-end to my ID , all the social icon link did not open in a new page. they rather open on the same page hence covering the website.

    Please what could be the issue.

    Thank you.

    1. JT Admin on Dec.02.2013

      Hi! Please download the template again and overwrite the file social.php on your server. This should fix the problem you have.

  7. Wolfgang on Dec.06.2013

    Hi there,

    first of all let me say that your template
    is realy one of the best i have seen!

    We are hobby knife makers. May we use
    this template for our website and may we
    change colors from orange to green?

    1. JT Admin on Dec.06.2013

      Hi Wolfgang! You are welcome to use any of my templates, and also you may edit the template to for your requirements.
      I have also seen you have sent me a private email regarding the German characters. Have you been able to fix that?

  8. Wolfgang on Dec.06.2013

    Hi there,
    thank you very much!

    Yes i fixed the problem.

    I only had to add this line to my .htaccess file:
    AddDefaultCharset UTF-8

    It was an encoding problem.

    Have fun

    1. JT Admin on Dec.06.2013

      I’m glad you figured it out. If need any help with changing colors, just write a message here.

  9. James Wong on Dec.16.2013

    Thanks for the great work! I like the template very much and will use it for my next webpage!

    I am new to programme or joomla, hope my question can be answer!
    Is there a way to change the color for the dropdown menu/other menu?
    I tried to change on the CSS files, orange words can be change but not those in the menu. THanks for your help!

    1. JT Admin on Dec.16.2013

      Take a look to the School template. There is a tutorial how to add custom colors and classes to menus.

  10. Philipp Blanke on Dec.17.2013

    Hey there!

    At first I want to say: great template!

    Is it possible to use it for a company? Or do I have to buy the template ?

    Secondly, if have a question about changing the colors of the main menu at the top. I want to have it in blue instead of orange. I already looked up the .css file in my folder and tried to change to colors but could not find the right line for it. Can you help me with it? I also tried the tutorial from the school template but it does not work, somehow…..

    Thanks for you answer!!!

    1. JT Admin on Dec.17.2013

      You are allowed to use the template for company website. It is free to use under the GNU/GPL license.

      At around line 146-147 you have to change the top border color and the hover color of the menu item. In the css looks something like this:

      #navigation .menu > .active > a … {… border-top: 5px solid #F15A23; …}
      #navigation .menu > li > a:hover … {… border-top: 5px solid #F15A23; color: #F15A23;}

      The School template use custom classes for each menu item, that is a bit different from this. You want each menu to be colored differently?

      1. Philipp Blanke on Dec.23.2013

        Hey thanks very much!

        No i just want everything to be light blue. So that works fine for me! Thank you very much!

  11. Emiliano on Dec.28.2013

    Hi, greetings from Argentina !
    Your templates are great, very nice work.
    I have a problems with smartone, i hope you can help me.

    I want a bigger logo, my logo size is 355×137 so i change in the style.css
    #logo img { max-height:137px; display:block; max-width:355px;}
    #logo.span_4 {width:100%}

    and in the index.php

    Nothing happens, mi logo is still keeps small

    Any suggestion ?

    Thanks !

    1. JT Admin on Dec.28.2013

      Is the logo small on big screens as well or only on smart phones? If you are browsing the website from a phone it is normal to have the logo smaller, because the width of the screen will be smaller than the width of the logo.

  12. Kaan on Jan.10.2014

    I use smartone and virtuemart together. But there is a problem on products extra photos. Normally extra photos for each product in virtuemart working properly but when I shift to smartone templates extra photos doesnt show up. If you can support I appreciate.
    Kaan O.

    1. JT Admin on Jan.10.2014

      Did not tested my templates with VirtueMart. Maybe this has nothing to do with my template but with layout of VirtueMart template. Can you give me the url of your shop so I can take a look?

  13. PGCOSTA on Jan.27.2014

    Hi Admin,

    Just one question, I’m trying to put my Latest News looking like the one that you have on your image at USER1 position. But it doesn’t look like it…

    Thanks in Advance,

        1. JT Admin on Jan.28.2014

          I’m not exactly sure how you want to display your latest article; if you want to display a part of it with a read more button, I suggest you to create a newsflash module and set the display order by date.

  14. NerdJam on Jan.28.2014

    Hi there! Amazing theme! I have just one tiny problem.

    I have been using Screenfly to test my website on multiple devices, and I noticed that on the iPad portrait mode (not landscape, and not on any other devices) the module in position “top” is more center aligned than right aligned. I have uploaded a screenshot here.

    The module I’m talking about contains the contact information. As you can see, I have edited the theme, but it’s not that because the same thing happens on the ‘official’ SmartOne demo.

    Originally I thought it might just be ScreenFly, but checked it on an iPad and it happened on there too! Very strange! Any idea what it might be? Or just Apple being difficult?

    Doesn’t matter if it’s not solvable, iPad users will just have to suffer!

    1. JT Admin on Jan.28.2014

      Hi! Find the following code in the styles.css file:
      @media (min-width:768px) {
      /* grid */
      .col { margin-left: 2% }
      .span_1 { width: 6.5% }

      and change min-width:768px -> min-width:799px
      Does this fix your problem?

    i have gzip compression actived so i get the following error:

    La página que está intentando visualizar no puede mostrarse porque utiliza un formato de compresión no válido o no admitido./The page you are trying to view can not be shown because it uses an invalid format or unsupported compression.

    this template has gzip compression support?

    1. JT Admin on Jan.29.2014

      Templates do not support gzip compression unfortunately. Sorry about that. Will consider changing this in the next updates.

  16. Hindro Hindrianto on Jan.29.2014

    Hello, I am Hindro from Indonesia. I plan to use this free template for my second. I have installed it on localhost and tried to modify styles.css to make the template, left and right module positions wider from its original. I placed banner 300 x 270 in left module position and left the right module position empty. But why the article is displayed under the left module position? Is that true I have modified styles.css and how to solve this?

    Thank you for all the help.

    Hindro Hindrianto

    1. JT Admin on Jan.29.2014

      The maximum width of sidebar on this template is 235 pixels. Probably the bigger banner is pushing the content down. You have to make couple of modifications in the styles.css if you want to fix it:
      To change the width of the sidebars you will have to edit the .span_3 {}
      If only left sidebar is enabled, the width of the content area is determined by .span_9 {} – you will have to adjust this as well if you are changing the width of .span_3
      Please note that changing these styles may require to change the width of all .span_x classes, otherwise some layouts will just look very wired.

      Another possibility to change width of the sidebars is to edit the following codes:
      #leftbar-w {width:300px!important}
      #rightbar-w {width:300px!important}

      Here, again, you will have to edit some other parts of the template, like #post {width:300px!important}

      Also keep in mind, that the mobile view will not be the same as it is now.

    Hi, I’m having a massive problem with my site that uses this website.

    I’ve created a Smart Search module that uses the breadcrumbs position.
    Unfortunately however, the search button sits on the line below the text input box, even though I selected position > right.

    Is there any way to move the button so it sits in line with the search input field?

    Unfortunately the site is still in the design stage, so it’s not live at this point, but if you need an example I could send a screenshot.

    Thanks so much for your help, in advance.

    1. JT Admin on Feb.02.2014

      No need for a screenshot. Without seeing the actual code, can’t really help you. Sorry.

  18. ProfMerlin on Feb.05.2014

    Great template. I would like to however change the height of the slideshow. Where would I look at changing the height?

    1. JT Admin on Feb.06.2014

      You can change the height of the slideshow by reducing or increasing the height of the images. This is the easiest way. Another way is to edit the css files. I would recommend the first option.

  19. code.nasch on Feb.09.2014

    really good template. whohoo! check out what i have done with it :D. but i need some help. how can i remove responsivly and fix it to his maximum width? i love responsive websites but in this case i need a fixed layout.

    1. JT Admin on Feb.11.2014

      Thanks for your feedback! You can remove the responsive layout if you edit the css file and remove the @media elements. Please note that the grid have to stay:
      .col { margin-left: 2% }
      .span_1 { width: 6.5% }

      .span_12 { width: 100% }

  20. code.nasch on Feb.12.2014

    Thanks for your answer,
    removing @media was not everything.
    to fix the layout i added these to #header-wrap {width: 950px; margin:auto;}

    Weblinks do not seem to be responding to global target setting of “Open in new window” or the individual links target setting of “Open in new window”. Could this be an issue with the template? When I look at the source generated, there is no “target=_blank” on the anchor tag. I’d appreciate any thoughts you have. There is a section on the right-hand side of the home page.

    1. ket on Mar.05.2014

      As it turns out, on some pages the Weblinks work correctly and have the “target=_blank” and on others they do not. I replaced the weblinks module on the home page with a custom HTML module and dropped the weblinks in there and got it to work for now.

  22. Dtom on Apr.18.2015

    your template is wonderful. I used it for my website, but after update to Joomla! 3.4 Smartone template stoped work! It’s only 404 error site. When I change template to standard Beez3 or another, everything is correct. It’s only my problem or anyone else? It’s change to fix it?

    1. JT Admin on Apr.18.2015

      Hey David, recently have tested all my templates with the new Joomla version 3.4.1 and everything worked perfectly for me. Don’t know why you are getting a 404 error when switching to this the SmarOne template. When you get a 404 error it means that a page is missing, but don’t know why you are getting it with the template.
      Do you have an online demo to your site, if you activate the template I can take a look to the code to see if I can find the problem.
